Gabion Walls

One of the landscaping trends nowadays, that has become quite popular in Gauteng and other areas of South Africa, is the Gabion Wall.

Gabion Walls are used as retaining walls, boundary walls and also seating areas (where the client is looking for something fresh & different!)

First we would start with a welded metal frame with a steel mesh welded to the frame. Once the frame is planted firmly into the ground (normally concreted in) and is situated in the correct position, we would then add the desired colour of dump rock.

In the case of Gabion Walls, we would then weld on the steel mesh covering. But, in the case of Gabion Seating Areas, we would either fix on wooden / synthetic decking, or sometimes we would even plant some interesting plants for an interesting effect!
